I am a second-generation Hmong Asian American woman. I was born and raised in Fresno California as the youngest of ten kids. I graduated with my B.A. in Liberal Studies from CSU Fresno in 2017, and my M.A. in Education, Behavioral Science Gender Equity Studies, at CSU Sacramento in 2020. Throughout my educational experience, I shifted between the Hmong and American culture never truly understanding where I belonged. College is where I began to understand my bicultural identity through the deconstruction of internalized racism, patriarchy, and dominate white racial framing. My Hmong culture, history, and identity shifted from the internalized place of deficient and reclaimed as the center of my knowledge. I love to travel and explore new places during my free time. I am excited to join DAT 2021 to gain more knowledge about Education reform.
