Vina grew up in Little Saigon in Southern California where Vietnamese refugees preserved their homeland's food, language, and culture after the Fall of Saigon. Currently, she is the co-founder of the Novalia Collective, an organization that builds spaces and opportunities for collective storytelling and community building. In her personal time, Vina writes poetry and is currently working on a novel.
