My life has been influenced by my experience as a child of Hmong refugees who immigrated to the United States as a result of the Vietnam War. Growing up in a low-income, refugee community in South Sacramento, California, I witnessed the realities of people who had limited access to educational opportunities and quality and culturally-sensitive health care. I have dedicated my educational and professional careers to uplifting marginalized communities, including my own, and I hope to provide them with adequate resources so they can lead healthy and thriving lives.
