Kalyann Kauv

She/her/hers

Kalyann Kauv is a Khmer-American. Both her parents’ are refugees and Khmer Rouge genocide survivors, with their own separate treks of escaping and forging their own path. Over the years, she has grown more aware of the need to be more engaged in policy issues but lack of the confidence in really knowing how to discuss and be apart of important topics that are not healthcare related. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelors in Biology and Doctor of Pharmacy and starting this month pursuing a Master's of Science in Health Administration. Ultimately, she hopes to understand how to use her professional platform to highlight issues in the Southeast Asian American community. She is based out of Virginia Beach, Virginia and work full-time as a Clinical Programs Pharmacist at the insurance plan Anthem, developing populations-based clinical pharmacy programs for Medicaid and Medicare areas, totaling ~7 million lives. She stays active through her work’s Resource Groups for women, Asian Americans and other minority groups. She is active in various professional pharmacy organizations and dipping her toe in advocacy for health equity in minority populations. She volunteers through the Virginia Medical Reserve Corps, most notably supporting COVID-19 efforts. She look forward to learning from SEARAC throughout the program!

Sweet or Savory?: Savory

Hype Song?: Time To Rise - VannDa feat. Master Kong Nay

Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place
