Born and raised in Akron, OH, I often struggled with my identity as Hmong and American. Growing up I was not very involved in my community, so I often felt more tied to the American culture. As I become more involved in my community now, I become more perceptive and appreciative of my roots; which has led to my growing passion and desire to advocate for my community.
